3) Bethel College 2013-2014 Theater Season

2013-2014 Schedule

"The Diary of Anne Frank," will be performed Oct. 31, Nov. 1*, Nov. 2 and Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 2, 2013, at 2 p.m. To escape the horrors of Nazi persecution, Otto Frank hides with his wife and two daughters in the attic rooms above an Amsterdam warehouse belonging to the Van Daan family. For two years, they try to live a normal life in their cramped quarters, while always fearing being discovered by the Gestapo. Anne Frank records the story of their trials in her diary, leaving a lasting account of what life was like in war torn Amsterdam.

"The Sound of Music," by Rodgers and Hammerstein, will be presented Feb. 13, 14* and 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 15, 2014, at 2 p.m. This classic story of love, family and finding your dream is set in Austria during World War II where a free-spirited postulant named Maria leaves the monastery to become a governess. As Maria tries to befriend the seven children of widowed Captain Von Trapp, she struggles to find her place on an unexpected path. This musical includes a collection of favorite songs such as "Edelweiss," "Climb Every Mountain" and "The Sound of Music."

"And Then There Were None," by Clark Gesner and John Gordon, will be presented May 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m. and May 31, 2014, at 1 p.m. Don't miss this thrilling tale where 10 strangers arrive for a weekend at the mysterious Indian Island, invited by a host they have never met. After a mysterious voice accuses each of them of getting away with murder, one guest falls to the floor, poisoned by cyanide in his drink. The remaining people resolve to find the murderer, but when they can't find anyone else on the island, they realize the killer is one of them. As the murderer continues to claim victims, the 10 ceramic figurines above the fireplace start to disappear.

Season tickets also include the Christmas concert, "Happy Birthday Jesus!" on Dec. 6 and 7* at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. The Christmas Concert for 2013 is a celebration of Christ's birthday featuring Bethel's Concert Choir, The Collegians, Voices Of Triumph, the Chamber Orchestra and many other faculty members and students. This concert will joyfully reflect the wonderful and life-changing gift God sent on that holy night 2,000 years ago.

For season tickets call 574.807.7080. Season tickets are now available at $45 for adults; $40 for seniors and students.   *These performances interpreted for the d/Deaf community.
