GENERAL INTEREST

G1) Bahamas Mission Trips - April

G1) Bahamas Mission Trips - April

Landry Academy has two mission trips to the Bahamas scheduled
for April:

1. Service Trip to Prepare "Camp Bahama" for Summer

Our "mission" is to help the "Camp Bahamas" staff
make camp improvements in preparation for the summer
camps they hold for youngsters on the island.
That will likely include clean-up, landscaping,
painting, construction, etc. No special skills are
required - we'll put you to work. You just need to
be willing to serve.

"Camp Bahama" is on 23 acres which stretch from one
end of the island of Eleuthera to the other (from
Caribbean to Atlantic), and we'll get to swim in
both. :) In addtion to preparing the facility for
it's summer camps, w e'll also be ministering to
local Haitian communities.

Details are here..
http://landryacademy.com/trips.html

2. Baseball / Softball Mission Trip to St Georges Cay

Our second Bahamas mission trip scheduled for April
is to the very small island of St Georges Cay in the
Bahamas.

On this trip we'll be working with missionaries Michael
and Amy Boykin, and their family on the very small
island of St Georges Cay and surrounding islands. The
primary mode of transportation on the island is golf
carts.

The Boykins minister to Haitians refugees in nearby
settlements and recently started two baseball teams
for the boys and softball teams for the girls. Their
comment to me (Greg Landry) was..

"These kids love baseball and softball but have little
equipment or training. We need high school kids who
can work with them. We also take them in the Caribbean
after we practice for them to play and we teach them
to swim."

Details are here..

MICHIANA EVENTS AND OPPORTUNITIES

1) Free Curriculum

3) Ski Club--Discounts on skiing!

1) Free Curriculum

The HUB has much used curriculum to give away for free.  A homeschool mom moved and liquidated everything in her inventory that was below her children's grade levels.  All material is 7th grade and below; 90% is aBeka. (Note: This is not my stuff; it was donated.  I have no idea what is there.  It's five boxes sitting in my hallway.  If you want something specific, come look--you might find it.)

If you would like to go through this material, call Andrea 269-240-6094 or email andreamom001@gmail.com to set up a time.  If no one responds this week, it will be donated/sold.

2)  Graduation 2013!!!

The Michiana Area Homeschoolers would like to invite all graduating seniors and parents, in the Michiana area, to join us as we plan for our 2013 cap and gown graduation ceremony. It is a wonderful way to acknowledge all our Lord has done and present a diploma to our graduate!

May7th
with a Graduation Ceremony date of Saturday, June 1st.
