G6)  Clean Tech Competition

Dear Home School Educator,

Registration for the 2018 Spellman High Voltage Electronics Clean Tech Competition is open and waiting for your students! In 2017, 26 different nations had teams sign up to be a part of the Competition and with your help, we can continue to grow that number in 2018; in fact we already have two nations submit teams! This is a wonderful opportunity for the high school students of Homeschool Hub to showcase their knowledge and passion for STEM to solve a very real issue the entire world is facing: Climate Change.

The Clean Tech Competition is an international research and design challenge for 15-18 year old pre-university students. This is an educational opportunity for students across the world that challenges students to be innovative while encouraging their passion for the sciences and we want the students of Indiana to participate in this year's competition! Now is the time to tell your teachers and spreading the word to the students so they can gather their teams and get ready to register! There is no limit to the amount of teams per school/organization and I hope to see many registrations from Homeschool Hub.

Competition Information

1) MSU Developmental Stuttering Project!

Hello from the MSU Developmental Stuttering Project!

Our research team at Michigan State University is currently examining brain development in young children to better understand the cause of stuttering and to gain information that may eventually lead to improved diagnosis and treatment efforts. The study is led by Dr. Soo-Eun Chang, our principal investigator, and is coordinated by speech-language pathologists Saralyn Rubsam and Megan Sheppard. (To find out more about our work please visit our website or check out a feature on our work from the Capital Area Women's Lifestyle Magazine).

We are currently in the seventh year of our study, and we are continually enrolling young children to participate. We are reaching out to you in hopes that you might help to spread the word throughout your community!

We are actively enrolling young children, 3-6 years of age, including children who stutter and children who do not stutter, to participate in our study.

Remuneration for participant families include:
Payment to parents for their time involved.
A comprehensive report of the child's speech, language, hearing, and IQ assessment at no cost.
A picture of the child's brain!

You can help us recruit children for our study by sharing this research opportunity with the families and friends in your community.

There are several ways you might help:
·         Print a short announcement in your school or company newsletter.
·         Post the enclosed flyer on a bulletin board.
·         Place an announcement or link on your web site.
·         Distribute the enclosed information via email.

Should you have any questions or if would like to refer any children to our study, please feel free to contact Saralyn Rubsam or Megan Sheppard at speechlabmsu@gmail.com or (517) 884-3286.  Additional information regarding the study is available for your reference on our website.

Thank you for your support and for taking the time to share our information regarding the Developmental Stuttering Project at MSU!
