[HUBNEWSLETTER] Special Alert

Hello Homeschool Community,

Many of you know Joan Steere, a local homeschooling mom.  For years, she was a Homeschool HUB member and volunteer.  She managed the HUB lending library of books, dvds, software, laptops, and other electronics for many years.

She was in a serious car accident and needs prayers, good thoughts, and whatever else you care to offer.

Her car was destroyed, she has many broken bones, and both she and her husband are no longer working (due to the accident).  Medical costs should be covered, but her children have set up a fund where people who want to help out with other costs can donate:

3)  Niles Library Writing Events for NaNoWriMo

1) Bethel College Theatre Department Presents "Electra"

The Bethel College theatre department presents "Electra," by Sophocles, adapted by Frank McGuinness. Performances will be on Thursday, Nov. 13, Friday, Nov. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center – Auditorium.

In "Electra," when King Agamemnon returns from the Trojan War with his new concubine, Cassandra, his wife, Clytemnestra (who has taken Agamemnon's cousin Aegisthus as a lover), kills them. Clytemnestra believes the murder was justified, since Agamemnon had sacrificed their daughter, Iphigenia, before the war, as commanded by the gods. Electra, daughter of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, rescued her young twin brother, Orestes, from her mother by sending him to Strophius of Phocis. The play begins years later when Orestes has returned as a grown man with a plot for revenge, as well as to claim the throne.

Tickets for this production can be purchased at BethelCollege.edu/Tickets or by calling the ticket office at 574.807.7080, Monday-Friday, 1-5 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults, $7 for students and seniors.
