2) Let's Play Music Class

Let's Play Music is a three year music theory course that emphasizes total musicianship through piano playing, singing, classical music, note reading, and ear training.  The best part is it's all accomplished through PLAY!  If you were to peek in on a Let's Play Music class, you would see jumping, singing, skipping, storytelling, and laughing.  As musical concepts and skills are presented in a playful, joyful setting, children absorb knowledge and ability.  Let's Play Music is geared toward young children starting at age 4 to 6. When children graduate they can understand the language of music and succeed in any music endeavor they choose to pursue. If you would like to check into the program even further the website is www.letsplaymusicsite.com.  Kelly Standiford is a local certified teacher.  You can contact her at 574-299-6009 or lpmkellys@gmail.com for more info or to attend a FREE sample class.  Enrolling now for Fall.  Let's Play Music is a program that needs to be experienced!

3) Math Competition

The National School Improvement Alliance will conduct the Indiana State-wide Math Competition for 1st-8th Graders on November 11, 2017 in Indianapolis.  The National School Improvement Alliance will conduct the Michigan State-wide Math Competition in Detroit on March 17, 2018. This year the event has been extended to include home school students.

Being good in math is about practice and to put in the practice time, students need motivation. This event is open to ALL 1st-8th Graders and is a great way to establish focus for math.

Competition Specifics:
During a nearly 10-hour day, thousands of elementary and middle school students will rotate in and out of the competition sites, where they will work to qualify for the Regional Event to be held in St. Louis (April 2018). Hundreds will qualify for the Regional.

Cost of Event:
There is a small entry fee of only $10 per student to help defray cost, but the hundreds that will progress to the Regional and/or National Events pay no additional fees. We only have 220 slots per grade level and some levels are starting to fill up. More information is at www.mathchampions.org.  If there are more questions, please call me at (248) 574-9288.

4) Imagination Station Workshops

My name is Emily Helm and I am a Marketing Assistant at Imagination Station in Toledo, Ohio. I am not sure if you are familiar with our organization, but we are a nonprofit science center located in downtown Toledo. Our mission is to promote STEM education in a fun and educational way.

One of our most popular programs we offer is our Homeschool Workshops. They take place at the science center on the first Wednesday of every month starting in September, and registration is now open. You can find more information about these workshops http://imaginationstationtoledo.org/workshops-camps/homeschool-workshops . In addition to this information, we also have an educational resource guide that lists all of our field trips, programs and workshops offered at Imagination Station.

More information can be found on our website, and please feel free to contact me with further questions or ways in which I can be of assistance. http://imaginationstationtoledo.org/

G4) Survey for Homeschoolers

I am a professor of education collecting data regarding homeschool parents' use of Pinterest. Please forward this information regarding a brief online survey to members of your group. Participants will be entered into a raffle for a $50 gift card.

My name is Dr. Diana Brannon and I am a Professor of Education at Elmhurst College. I am conducting a study on teachers' use of Pinterest and would like to include homeschool teachers also. I would love to learn more about the practices of homeschool teachers and feel as though this is a very important group that researchers often neglect. As part of the study, I am asking classroom and homeschool teachers to complete a short, multiple-choice survey regarding their use of Pinterest as part of their teaching. The survey takes approximately 3 minutes (43 questions). Everyone who responds to the survey will be entered into a raffle for a $50 Visa gift card as a thank you for their input and time. The email is located at:

Thank you in advance for your consideration. I would really appreciate your help! Please respond to this email by Friday, May 26, 2017.
