GENERAL INTEREST

G1) Brain Warmer Upper
G2) Online Tutoring
G3) Landmark Events Washington DC Tours

G1) Brain Warmer Upper

What is wider than life itself
Longer than forever
So simple it's complicated
Travels but never leaves the spot
Puts others in danger but no one gets hurt
And reaches to worlds unknown?

Answer to the last puzzle:
A pencil.

G2) Online Tutoring

My name is Sam Salo, and I run an online tutoring studio. I specialize in CLEP and college credit tests, video game design, and other subjects such as math and English. I also teach English as a Second Language.

I offer tutoring to both help and augment a student's current classwork, and I also offer tutoring that can serve as a student's class in a particular subject.  I am quite flexible in how I can approach a student's situation. I invite prospective students and parents to dialogue with me and start conversations.

SUBJECTS
-CLEPs and college credit tests; topics include achieving a degree through testing, taking individual tests, the taking of tests (the art and "science" of how to approach them), and more
-ACT/SAT testing
-Core junior high and high school subjects, including mathematics, biology, chemistry, English, writing, and literature
-Graphic design and photography
-Video game design, including game theory, introductory programming, and introductory mobile game design

FORMATS
-One-on-one sessions
-Groups (classes)
-Supplemental tutoring and teaching for a student's preexisting classes
-Teaching by invitation from a group or school

NOTES
-If a student is using a curriculum for a subject, I will use that with my teaching. If a student needs a recommendation for learning materials, I can provide the learning materials and curriculums. I also provide recommendations of material.
-I use Skype (or another online whiteboard option upon a student's request). Through webcams and screensharing, it is simple, fluid, and fun.

FACEBOOK AND CONTACT
-On Facebook: https://www.facebook .com/samandwidget/
-Email: samuel.a.salo@gmail.co m
-Phone: 262.721.8887

RATES
-My rates are $20-25/hour, depending on the subjects. I tutor both one-on-one sessions and group sessions, depending on the needs and requests of individual students and families.

6) MoonTree Studios

A new school year is beginning, and home school families and groups may be seeking new means of adding creative arts and ecological outings to their schedules. I'd like to introduce you to MoonTree Studios, just west of Plymouth, 3 miles south of Hwy. 30 in northern Indiana.

MoonTree Studios is a unique and beautiful place where the interconnectedness of art, nature and spirit are explored and celebrated. "Fearlessly creating" is our goal…we encourage focusing on the process rather than only the product.

Here in the middle of an 8 acre native prairie, near the woods, Lake Galbraith, the Ancilla Beef & Grain Farm, the Catherine Kasper Life Center, and Ancilla College, we host a variety of creative experiences in clay, paint, fiber, wood, glass, and metal. We also offer extensive experiences in ecological topics such as bees and beekeeping, wetlands, watersheds, biodiversity, sustainability, and even cob building (blending clay, sand, water and straw to build durable structures.)
Our Gallery is open to the public M-F 9am – 4pm eastern time; on exhibit now thru August 16th is a collection of International Art brought home from missions they served by the sisters of Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ (PHJC.) On Saturday, August 26th, you are invited to attend the Opening Reception for "Garden of Vessels: An Exploration in Clay," an exhibition of work by Elizabeth Wamsley.

Visit our website – www.moontreestudios.org – for information of upcoming gallery exhibits – and to learn about the many creative, ecological, and spirit/consciousness experiences that are scheduled for the remainder of 2017. For example, you and your high school students may register for pen and ink drawing, water-soluble media art, developing your own textile doll, yoga, contemplative prayer, 'play with clay,' weaving on a loom, turning a log into a bowl, or plein air painting (painting nature while outdoors.) A 5K run/walk around Lake Galbraith (Hoot with the Owls, Run With the Chargers) will be held on October 7th, and on October 14th, we're offering a program on bats of northern Indiana. Many additional experiences are scheduled as well.

If you have any questions about MoonTree and how we can be of service to your students and associations, email me at jkostielney@poorhandmaids.org, text me at 574-286-2744, or call our office at 574-935-1712.

7) Used Book Store

I am reaching out to all home schoolers about materials at our used bookstore.  Ark Paws and Claws Bookstore in Howe Indiana is a non profit bookstore which helps support Ark Animal Rescue and Adoption in Lagrange Indiana.  We have a large educational section in our bookstore as well as a children's section of books.  We recently received a good selection of 1st-2nd grade teacher aid material from a second grade teacher who has moved to teaching kindergarten.  We would love to have you visit our store.  Our hours are 9-5 M-F, and 9-3 on Saturday.  Our address is 309 Defiance Street, Howe Indiana.  We receive our books from schools, libraries, and the generous people in our community.  Please let others know of our bookstore.  Thank you, Linda Simmons, Bookstore Manager

8) Connor Prairie Homeschool Days

Conner Prairie is an interactive history park, or living history museum, in Fishers, Indiana, United States, that preserves the William Conner home, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and recreates part of life in Indiana in the 19th century on the White River.  They have two home school days coming up soon!  August 29 and September 12, any homeschool family can come visit us for our low school group rate of just $5.50 per student, $8.50 per chaperone, and FREE for the primary educator.
