G1) Brain Warmer Upper

What do you call a frog with no legs?

Answer to the last puzzle:
Your breath.

G2) Research Participants Needed

Hello!
My name is Leah Ewald, and I am a current MSW student at Grand Valley State University. I wanted to reach out as I am conducting an independent study for my research class on the impact of a semester of study-abroad in undergrad on the world views and identity on former homeschool students. I am currently looking for interested individuals who meet the criteria below who would be willing to participate in a interview about their experience. If this request could be passed on to other homeschool community members, I would much appreciate it!

Participants must..
         - be between the ages of 21-35 years old
-have participated in homeschool for the equivalent of grades 7-12
-have been raised in a conservative, Christian family
         - have participated in a college or university's semester-long study abroad experience during his/her undergraduate education

If you answered "yes" to all of these questions, please email me at your earliest convenience.Or if you know someone who may qualify, please share my information with this person and ask him/her to contact me ASAP, so I can discuss my study  in greater detail with this person!

* All interviews will be kept confidential, and my research study is only for a class project.  It will not be distributed to the general public.

Please respond by emailing me personally at ewaldl@mail.gvsu.edu.

Thank you so much for your help!

Sincerely,
Leah E. Ewald

G3)  Parental Rights Amendment to US Constitution

There is a proposed Amendment to the US Constitution that could be of interest. The Parental Rights Amendment (PRA) to the United States Constitution seeks to protect the right of parents to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their children, including the right to homeschool.

The following is a message sent out by ParentalRights.org jrecently. They are asking people to contact their representatives in Congress and voice their support for the PRA:

"Great news! Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-IL) has announced he is ready to introduce the Parental Rights Amendment in the U.S. House of Representatives. This means the PRA will soon have been proposed in both chambers of Congress; Sen. Lindsey Graham has already submitted companion resolution S.J.Res. 48 in the Senate.

Before the resolution's introduction in early November, Rep. Hultgren (and ParentalRights.org!) would like to get a good number of initial cosponsors—members of the House who join him on the bill right from the start—preferably from both political parties. After all, parental rights is not an issue only for one side of the aisle, and either party would be foolish to yield the issue entirely to their opponents.

So this is where you and I come in: I am about to contact my member of Congress, and I urge you to do the same. Take a moment right now, before you close this email, to call your representative and ask that they join Rep. Hultrgen as an original cosponsor of the Parental Rights Amendment."

G6) Online Math Class Survey

My name is Corey Colosky and I am a high school math teacher trying to help the homeschool community. If I can get enough people interested, I will be offering virtual math classes starting in the summer of 2018 and then again during the 2018-2019 school year. The format would be like a webinar where the class is live and the students can interact with each other and with me as the teacher. I would like to keep the price at $100 for the entire course. I was hoping that you would simply share this information with members of Homeschool HUB so I can see who is interested and which classes they are interested in. Here is a sign-up form. Filling this out does not commit you to anything, but it informs me that you are interested. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GV8BKM3

If you or members have questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I am working full-time as a teacher so please be gracious if it takes me a few days to respond to your emails.

I do already have Geometry and Algebra 2 courses completely online if you want to check it out also. This is different than what I am offering with the virtual classes because the virtual class would be live lessons. http://coloskys-math-academy.thinkific.com/

Thank you for your time,
Corey
