G2) Help Niles, MI community garden get a $4,000 grant!

The gardens are available to and utilized by homeschool families.  There is an online competition in which the top 5 vote getting gardens split a $20,000 grant.  You can vote online once daily until August 6th.  I've been voting for a couple of months.  Please join me for the final push.  Right now Niles is second in the voting and just under 2,000 votes separate the top 7 vote getters....then there is a dropoff of over 4,500 votes to the 8th place garden.  Those top 7 will all be pushing to get votes for the last two months.  If we can get more people voting for Niles we have a very good chance to help a great project in our community.  Here is the link you go to for voting, and the standings as of today....Niles is bottom row, second from left:

G4) Free Online Summer Reading Program

Hello!

I am hosting an online summer reading program that invites children to go beyond reading into actively DOING - creating something related to what they read.  To include more reluctant readers, there is also a nature learning program - and entries are accepted for both programs from participants ages 3 to 93!

After reading/researching, participants earn points for each "activity" they make - from writing to painting to creating a slideshow or other project.  Prizes will be awarded in September for the most points in each age level as well as for the best writing and most artistic entries.
Participants will also have a chance to see some of their work published online - from behind the safety of a "Code Name" which they choose.

More information can be found at:
http://www.homeeducationresources.com/SummerPrograms.htm

Please feel free to help spread the word in any way you feel comfortable, and have yourself a GREAT summer!

Have a wonderfully educational day!
