1) Generosity of the Homeschool community appreciated

On Friday, January 14th, The Berrien Springs United Methodist Church held a medical benefit for Stuart. We would like to thank the members of The Homeschool HUB and the homeschooling community in general for their support and donations. It was great to see some of you there. We were deeply touched by the outpouring of concern and support from the community. The church raised over $5,500 during this event and we have already paid off several medical bills. We are grateful and would like to thank everyone for their generosity.

2) Lego Robotics Team Needs Your Votes

Hi everyone!
Preston's Lego Robotics team applied for a patent on a device they created to help mobility in Parkinson's patients.  There is now a competition between Lego teams (that applied for a patent) to win $20,000 to develop that product.  But to win, they must have the most votes.  Would you please help Preston's team by voting for their project, the LaserBlazer, and by voting daily!  Below is the note sent from their coach.

Thanks!
Susan Huffman

The Bremen Botz! Lego robotics team developed a device this year that can help Parkinson's and other patients that experience mobility issues.  We are currently involved in an online competition that could net the team $20,000 to further patent and develop our product.

All that is needed from you is to visit the following website and press the vote button.  You may only vote once per day, but you can vote everyday through the first week of March!  (multiple machines connected to a single router will only get one vote).  Vote from your desktop, cell phone, or even from open wireless connections at your favorite coffee shop.

For us to win, we need your help.  Consider changing the home page in your browser to remind you to vote every time you browse the net.

Thank you for your support and please pass this on to others!

Thank you in advance for your support!!!

DONATE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

My friend, Hugo, wants to fill a cargo shipping container with musical instruments to take back to Chile with him in February.  He has been here studying to get his Masters in Conducting at Andrews University.  He has also been teaching a conversational Spanish class to local homeschoolers.  He returns to a job conducting orchestra and choir, and teaching, at a university.  He will have programs for younger students as well, and needs instruments for them.  He is also working to raise $20,000 for a full set of bells, to start bell choirs for all ages.  If you have an instrument you would be willing to donate please contact him.  He will even take them if they are not in working condition, to use for repair parts.  He lives near the university in southwest Michigan.  If you are nearby, he will pick up the instrument(s).  If you live a great distance from him, please box up your instrument and send it to him.  He is a wonderful, giving person, and he will put the instruments to great use helping children.

Contact him to arrange your donation of an instrument or money for the bells at:
