1) Bethel Art Professor Showcases a Few of His Favorite Things

Bethel College's Chair of the Visual Arts Department Christopher Stackowicz will showcase his artwork entitled "A Few of My Favorite Things," with an opening reception on Wednesday, Nov. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will be held in the Weaver Art Gallery located inside the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center. The exhibit will run Nov. 16 to Dec. 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but will be closed on Sundays and over Thanksgiving break.

Complete with Stackowicz's work from the past year — including 10 drawings, two tables, one painting, six photos and 10 prints — the goal of the exhibit is to portray the variety of media in which a professional artist can be fluent.

Not only is Stackowicz a professor but also a practicing artist and archaeologist. As an artist he has shown his paintings, drawings and prints internationally and nationally; and he is firmly committed to supporting the local arts community. As an archaeologist, he has worked on the Greek Archaeology Project at Corinth since 2000 and spends much of his summers working in Greece.

"The images and designs all stem from the art of reconstruction and how my various travels, work and exploits in Greece have profoundly impacted my aesthetics," says Stackowicz.

The Weaver Art Gallery exhibits are located inside the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center and are free and open to the public. For any questions, contact the department of visual arts at 574.807.7022 or visualart@BethelCollege.edu.
