G1) "Extreme" Israel Trip for Homeschoolers

Homeschool Travel has put together a sort of "beyond-the-tour" Adventure: an Extreme Israel Adventure to include such things as hiking, rappelling, caving, IDF Special Ops training, working on an actual archaeological dig, parasailing on the Red Sea, long-distance camel trekking, climbing Mt. Sinai, and more…

We decided to make this Adventure very intimate, so we are limiting participation to 15 people. But, we already have 5 people who have signed on.  What this means is that we now only have 10 spaces left!

I know it is next year before this Extreme Adventure takes place (May 30-June 12, 2012). But, if you have any interest at all in joining us—with only 10 spaces left—we need to hear from you right away. Email us and we will put you on the list.

NEW ISRAEL EXPERIENCE FOR HOMESCHOOLERS

Extreme Israel Adventure includes: Special Forces Army Training, Swimming All Over Israel, Rappelling, Hiking, Archaeological Excavation, Caving, Oil Lamp Night Tour, Rafting, Snorkeling in the Red Sea, Jeep Trek, Camel Trek, and much more...

Dates: May 30 - June 12, 2012

G2) 10-12 year olds needed for summer movie

The 2012 feature film for The Casting Camp: Make-A-Movie Camp has been written and it is FANTASTIC!! The format is similar to Valentines Day or the newly released New Years Eve. Four production companies will work day and night so that we can film a 2 hour movie in 7 days.

There are lots of good roles but we have a problem....

We will be filming a movie with a subject matter that requires a younger group of kids. We are in urgent need for 3 kids within 10 to 12 year old age group to play 9 and 10 year olds.  Rarely is the Casting Call: Make-a-Movie Camp is open to such young actors. We will provide on set coaching and special care over their entire camp stay.

There are stringent requirements that must be met in order for an application to be accepted.  A completed recommendation form must be completed by any performing arts teacher within two weeks of the application being submitted to our office. Find the recommendation form here: http://www.youngactorscamp.com/recommendation.htm (DO NOT WAIT TO TURN THE APPLICATION IN. WE ONLY NEED 3 KIDS AT A FIRST APPLY/FIRST IN BASIS)  If 6 months of acting classes have not been completed, the applicant must take one before the start of camp. Video Conferencing classes do qualify. Read information below. The applicant must agree to complete the Advanced Study Program.

Our maximum number of kids within this age group will be a strict '3'. Please email request@youngactorscamp.com a submitted application for the Three week Intensive or call our office, 909 982 8059. Find the application here: http://www.youngactorscamp.com/app.htm

3) Iowa Test of Basic Skills Registration

High scores on the test make homeschoolers eligible for Home School Honor Societies.  I'm forwarding two versions (Word and PDF) of the IOWA/ITBS Testing registration form.

Best wishes,

4) Volunteer Opportunities

Are you in transition between careers and looking to gain experience in an office setting? Are you a college student looking for a meaningful volunteer experience to add to your resume or to get college credit for?  The City of Benton Harbor has two projects for you to consider:

A) The first is an investigative/analysis project that requires the volunteer to compare City customer lists with those of a contracted service (about 4000 accounts); creating a unique customer number for that customer on both lists, developing a spreadsheet and determining the state of each customer account.  Multiple volunteers will be used on this project.

B) The second one is a small project which will require the volunteer to go through the tax bills that get sent back to the City, looking the information and mailing them to either the forwarding address or the property address.

If you have questions about this volunteer opportunity: contact Sandra Dudley at the City of Benton Harbor.  (269) 519 9928 (cell)

C) If you looking for medical or social work experience:

A woman living in Benton Harbor is traveling daily, Monday - Friday, to the wound care clinic at the Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Berrien Center .  Do you have a free day to drive her?  She lives in Country Side Apartments in Benton Township .
