6) Bethel College Presents "Classifieds" Art Exhibit

The Bethel College department of visual arts presents the "Classifieds" art exhibit, featuring the multimedia artwork of local artist Kevin Wadzinski. The opening reception for the exhibit will be Jan. 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Weaver Art Gallery. The display will be available for viewing Jan. 14 through Feb. 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but will be closed on Sundays.

"There's a little bit of everything — collage, painting, drawing, photography, sculpture — it's all fairly poppy and cartoony," said Wadzinski. "The title of this show has multiple meanings in relation to the artwork. Classified can refer to something secret, or unknowable to all but a privileged few. It is also the title for the section of the newspaper that directly deals with the needs and desires of the people in that community. At its root, it means to divide and organize."

The exhibit is located inside the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center and is free and open to the public. For questions, contact the department of visual arts at 574.807.7022.

LATIN, GREEK, AND HEBREW TUTOR

My name is Dean Furlong, and I can offer tutoring for home-school children in Latin, Greek (Classical or Biblical) or Biblical Hebrew. I live in the South Bend area, with my wife and five children (some of whom were homeschooled for a time). I am currently a graduate student in Biblical Studies within the department of Theology at the University of Notre Dame, and I hold a BA in Classics (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of Colorado, and an MA in Classical and Near Eastern Studies from the University of Minnesota, where I was Hebrew Student of the Year during my final year of studies. I have been a teaching assistant in New Testament and World of the Bible classes, and have tutored privately in Greek and Latin. I know the challenges of learning languages, but I also know that it brings rich rewards; and there is no better time to begin language acquisition than the younger years, especially when learning inflected languages. If there is interest in developing this opportunity, please contact me at furlongd@colorado.edu.
