If you aren't checking out the Homeschool HUB facebook page, you are missing out. This recent post included a link to directions on how to create a stand that turns your smartphone into a digital microscope (for about $10). There are also good articles and free ebooks and the like posted from time to time. Feel free to ask questions or start discussions there, too.

1) Environmental Science and Empowerment classes
Kristi Bly is offering Environmental Programs & Empowerment Classes in Elkhart to virtual school and homeschool families. Registration is required. Also note that after the Environmental Programs, I have reserved time for everyone to bring sack lunches so that we can hang out and socialize.

2) Homeschool Sports Class
Students wanted for fun and exercise! Coach Brian will once again be teaching our sports class. He will be teaching basic and intermediate basketball skills and maybe adding in some other sports if there is interest. The class includes warm up exercises and character/team building talks. Tennis shoes are required.
Beginner Basketball Class: For ages 8-11 or those that have never played before from 3:45-4:45PM
Intermediate Basketball Class: for ages 12 and up from 4:45-6:00PM
Each semester will offer 12 classes. Cost will be $70.00 for beginners class and $85.00 for intermediate class. Classes meet on Thursday afternoons beginning January 9th at Niles Adventist School 110 N. Fairview Ave Niles, MI 49120.
Parents are required to bring child to first class for registration or fill out registration forms prior. Please have health insurance information and emergency contact information available to fill out forms. Parents are welcome to stay during class time and observe. 3) Michiana Christian Co-op Classes
Michiana Christian Co-op is pleased to introduce new courses for their Winter Trimester beginning January 8th. Complete descriptions of new and on-going classes can be found at http://michianachristiancoop.com . New families may register beginning Nov. 4th for the Winter Trimester for a fee of $50 for the whole family (see site for more details.) New classes in January will include: Lord of the Flies (high school literature/writing, Mailing a Letter (K-3 lapbook), WWII (high school), From the Mixed up Files and Ben and Me (Language Arts 3-6th grade), Drawing for Teens, Laughable Laws (7th-12th grade), King of the Wind (6th-8th grade Language Arts) Writing Labs 4th-12th grade, Math Lab (2nd-6th grade), and more. These are just the "new" classes. Many classes already offered are available for registration as well. 4) Indiana Tutoring Service
My name is Nathan Cooper and I am a first-generation homeschooler whose family chose to invest more of their time and effort than the regular parent - and it paid off. After receiving multiple full-ride scholarship offers to the schools I wanted to attend, I chose Patrick Henry College and my wife and I are now homeschooling our four children.
Sometimes a local homeschooling group or family needs extra resources to help teach their students. Sometimes a student just doesn't get a concept and needs it to be explained differently. Sometimes a necessary subject needs to be taught but there isn't a teacher for the class, or in the case of College Prep, sometimes you need someone who's walked that road and had success. River Oaks is here to provide that to the greater homeschooling community. Via Skype, we have taught students from Singapore to Virginia, Michigan to Dominica and beyond. We are a ministry to help provide a necessary service to homeschooling families and groups;

5) Six Flags Reading Program
The Six Flags Read to Succeed Program is now accepting registrations for the 2013-2014 school year. Go Big this school year when you and your students participate in the Six Flags 2013-2014 Read to Succeed Program.

If you participated last year, your online account is still active. You can login and confirm your information is still correct and make any updates, if needed. If you are new to the program, registration is now open so you can sign up today. Once you login to your account, you can download everything you need to get started from your Teacher Toolbox in your online account. Your Teacher Toolbox will have the Student Reading Log, Parent Letter and instructional guides. Your students can begin logging their hours as soon as you hand out the Student Reading Logs.
